Many ancient cultures embraced the belief that life energy flowed through the body, affecting our bodies, mind, and emotions. Current research suggests that energy does extend throughout and beyond the physical body and that disruptions or imbalances in its flow correlate to physical, mental, and emotional illnesses.

Reiki, (pronounced ‘Ray-Key’) is a Japanese word meaning universal life energy. It is a nonintrusive method of hands-on or remote healing that taps into this energy. Developed by Mikao Usui, Jim is trained in this healing method.

Reiki is not massage, hypnosis, or a tool for diagnosing illness. Reiki is a technique that addresses both chronic and acute conditions, gently and powerfully promoting balance among all the body’s systems and the normal regenerative processes of the body and mind.

While the effects vary from individual to individual during a Reiki session, most people experience deep relaxation. You may experience tingling or pulsing sensation, a feeling of warmth and comfort, or may even fall asleep. Tibetan Singing BowlResults are sometimes subtle, or you may experience powerful sensations or emotions during or after a session.

Reiki is offered in numerous clinical settings to complement medical care and psychological counseling. It can reduce the discomforts of pregnant women and can ease the pain of childbirth. There is improvement in the immune and nervous system. It can lessen pain, including cancer pain, and can improve mobility in patients with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, lupus, and fibromyalgia. Reiki is especially appreciated in hospice care to alleviate pain and anxiety for both patient and family members. Reiki can also help companion animals. The healing art of Reiki addresses imbalances to support good health and well-being.
