17 Minutes in Nature for Wellbeing

By Terri Test, Certified Holistic Health Coach

We all begin with the best of intentions. We aspire to establish a consistent weekly self-care routine, recognizing the positive impact it has on our well-being. Yet, life’s unexpected twists often throw our self-care plans off course. When the unexpected arises, our self-care routine is often the first casualty. What if there was one self-care routine that took less than 20 minutes each day and could have a profound impact on your overall health and well-being? Would you find a way to prioritize it? The answer might become clear as you explore its numerous benefits.

Imagine one weekly self-care practice that could:

  • Enhance the quality of your sleep.
  • Recharge your energy levels.
  • Boost your focus and concentration.
  • Foster creativity and problem-solving.
  • Reduce stress.
  • Improve your mood.
  • Decrease inflammation in your body.
  • Enhance your memory.
  • Lower your blood pressure.
  • Strengthen your immune system.
  • Contribute to your happiness.
  • Reduce anxiety.
  • Promote mindfulness.
  • Elevate your overall quality of life.

Surprisingly, spending a short amount of time in nature can achieve all these benefits…

Embracing Contentment

By DeAnna Torres

In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of our experiences, leaving us with a “happiness deficit” that can lead to overwhelming anxiety and depression. However, there’s a simple self-care practice I call “Noticing the Okay Moments” that can help us balance the scales and foster a sense of contentment in our daily lives.

As humans, we are wired to remember the negative situations and events to avoid them in the future. But this tendency often makes us overlook the good, easy, or joyful times that occur amidst life’s challenges. By consciously recognizing and cherishing these moments of contentment, we can gradually cultivate a stronger foundation for overall happiness.

So, here’s how the practice works:

Starting Over, again.

By Riva Jean-Paul

How do I start over? This is a question many people are asking themselves, as we continue to navigate the effects of the after-pandemic world. Thousands of people have quit their jobs and started what we are now calling The Great Resignation. As we continue to be shown how things are not working, from the cost of living, to our school systems, laws, and day-to-day lives, we’re now facing a new pandemic: A mental health crisis. Many aren’t happy and that’s why we’re looking for different ways of living in this modern world, all in the hopes of something new and better.  But how do we start over? Especially, if we don’t want to go back to where we were. How do we start from square one again after we’ve worked years, sometimes decades, to create a life we now want to run away from?

love yourself.

In the end, I have found that what is most important is for me to love me.

Because if I love me…

I honor my life and my Self.

I show up more authentically.

I say no when it doesn’t feel right.

I strive to create an environment, both inner and outer, with love.

I live in a way that aligns with my personal values, regardless of exterior opinions.

I am able to honor and appreciate other BEings, things, and experiences, while speaking up in the cases where things need to change.

Sometimes I fail and am imperfect. And I must try and remember, after all, to love myself still.

More loving, less judging. For the highest good of all.
