Embracing Contentment

By DeAnna Torres

In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s all too easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of our experiences, leaving us with a “happiness deficit” that can lead to overwhelming anxiety and depression. However, there’s a simple self-care practice I call “Noticing the Okay Moments” that can help us balance the scales and foster a sense of contentment in our daily lives.

As humans, we are wired to remember the negative situations and events to avoid them in the future. But this tendency often makes us overlook the good, easy, or joyful times that occur amidst life’s challenges. By consciously recognizing and cherishing these moments of contentment, we can gradually cultivate a stronger foundation for overall happiness.

So, here’s how the practice works:

Starting Over, again.

By Riva Jean-Paul

How do I start over? This is a question many people are asking themselves, as we continue to navigate the effects of the after-pandemic world. Thousands of people have quit their jobs and started what we are now calling The Great Resignation. As we continue to be shown how things are not working, from the cost of living, to our school systems, laws, and day-to-day lives, we’re now facing a new pandemic: A mental health crisis. Many aren’t happy and that’s why we’re looking for different ways of living in this modern world, all in the hopes of something new and better.  But how do we start over? Especially, if we don’t want to go back to where we were. How do we start from square one again after we’ve worked years, sometimes decades, to create a life we now want to run away from?

love yourself.

In the end, I have found that what is most important is for me to love me.

Because if I love me…

I honor my life and my Self.

I show up more authentically.

I say no when it doesn’t feel right.

I strive to create an environment, both inner and outer, with love.

I live in a way that aligns with my personal values, regardless of exterior opinions.

I am able to honor and appreciate other BEings, things, and experiences, while speaking up in the cases where things need to change.

Sometimes I fail and am imperfect. And I must try and remember, after all, to love myself still.

More loving, less judging. For the highest good of all.

Ragaia Belovarac ~ Blue Sage Ayurveda

BlueSageWebInterview with Ragaia Belovarac – Steward, Blue Sage Ayurveda, M.A., C.A.S., P.K.S., C.M.T. in Nevada City, CA

Hi Ragaia! What do you offer in the community?

Ayurvedic pancha karma programs, which include detoxification and rejuvenation therapies.

What led you to offering these services and classes?

A life journey of seeking and exploring holistic healing practices that I could integrate into my daily life.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love seeing others show up with the desire to create and better themselves. I feel blessed to have connected with the healing practices of Ayurveda, because it contains many potent tools that people can understand and integrate into their lives in ways that actually sustain healing. It’s very gratifying to facilitate a space where people can come and explore their healing journeys.

What inspires you?

I am always inspired by observing the strength of the human spirit when a person becomes motivated to improve their health and quality of life. In that light, my focus is to help individuals make the shift from surviving to thriving by exploring their highest potential.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

For me, I see each day as the present “gift”. Each time a new client arrives at Blue Sage Sanctuary a unique healing journey begins.  I do my best to be fully available for that journey. As we go forward in time, I continue to look forward to Ayurveda more fully integrating with other medical practices.

Diane Hovey, Ph.D. ~ Transformational Healing

Hi Diane! Thanks so much for doing this interview 🙂

diane - Portrait -_3INWhat do you offer in the community?

I offer healing that embraces mind/body/spirit. My training includes the scientific understanding of problems within the body, as well as formal training in psychology with a masters in counseling and a PhD in biomed. Coupled with that I have trained with shamanic masters from around the globe starting when still in my early twenties back in the late 1960’s up to the present. Most recently I spent time learning from a Malecu shaman in Costa Rica.

What led you to offering the services you do?

It was in part my own frustration with the current medical approach to healing that did not even begin to address the issues.

What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most is watching my clients change while on my treatment table. Seeing their faces relax as paid dissolves and watching them leave wearing a smile — and sometimes carrying the crutches they needed to walk when they arrived.

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes from many places. My clients’ improvement fuels my passion to learn more. The excitement of discovery, and the potential of doing even more, stokes the fire to continue being better. Living where I do surrounds me with the grounding of trees and water, the elemental energies that bring it all into balance. Knowing that while I cannot help everyone, I can help many live happier and more fulfilled lives.

Hovey Diane - Maleku shaman calling spirits_5INWhat are you looking forward to in the future?

I am looking toward shifting my work away from the physically demanding aspects and toward the more subtle approaches. I see that including more of the lymphatic and cranial sacral work, coupled with brainwave conditioning. These modalities pair beautifully with the shamanic work. I will also be bringing more of my photography into my practice to create unique healing images conceived in a healing journey for my shamanic clients. I see them as being a large, fine art image printed on metal that will serve as a meditation focal point for my client during his or her healing process.

Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

WellBEing Resource is a unique publication that reaches out into the community in a way other directories do not. It is more than a directory. It is also a network that succeeds in bringing like minded individuals together who would have never otherwise met.

Thanks so much Diane!
