Heart Works – Melanie Channell

photo_1_3inHi Melanie! Thanks so much for doing this interview 🙂

What do you offer in the community?

Numerology, tarot readings, life purpose readings and classes, Energy Healing, crystal healing sessions, and a variety of classes.

What led you to offering these services and classes?

I attended a 3 day Leadership Awakening experience through Empower U (Living Like It Matters), that helped me to realize that I could follow my passion; that even if it got challenging, with persistence and follow through I had within me what it takes to follow my dreams. This power is within everyone, and I made a decision at that time to become the leader and healer that I know I am. I have worked through a lot of adversity in my life, which has made me a stronger and more compassionate person and I strive to help others see the same in themselves.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love teaching people how to get in touch with their intuition and inner healing abilities.

What inspires you?

Many things inspire me, but here are few of my favorites: A big genuine smile aimed at me, people who can laugh at their mistakes, walking in nature, music that either hits your sensitivity button or makes you want to get up and dance, people who, even through great adversity, help to make this planet a better place..

I love that! What are you looking forward to in the future?

Connecting with spiritual seekers through teaching and writing on a bigger scale.

Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

I like being a part of WellBeing Resource because it gives our local community a place to find quality practitioners and events for their health and spiritual needs.

Is there something special you’d like to offer WellBEing readers?

I would like to offer WellBeing Resource readers 25% off any service for mentioning this post.

Great ~ Thanks so much Melanie!

Diane Hovey, Ph.D. ~ Transformational Healing

Hi Diane! Thanks so much for doing this interview 🙂

diane - Portrait -_3INWhat do you offer in the community?

I offer healing that embraces mind/body/spirit. My training includes the scientific understanding of problems within the body, as well as formal training in psychology with a masters in counseling and a PhD in biomed. Coupled with that I have trained with shamanic masters from around the globe starting when still in my early twenties back in the late 1960’s up to the present. Most recently I spent time learning from a Malecu shaman in Costa Rica.

What led you to offering the services you do?

It was in part my own frustration with the current medical approach to healing that did not even begin to address the issues.

What do you love most about what you do?

What I love most is watching my clients change while on my treatment table. Seeing their faces relax as paid dissolves and watching them leave wearing a smile — and sometimes carrying the crutches they needed to walk when they arrived.

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes from many places. My clients’ improvement fuels my passion to learn more. The excitement of discovery, and the potential of doing even more, stokes the fire to continue being better. Living where I do surrounds me with the grounding of trees and water, the elemental energies that bring it all into balance. Knowing that while I cannot help everyone, I can help many live happier and more fulfilled lives.

Hovey Diane - Maleku shaman calling spirits_5INWhat are you looking forward to in the future?

I am looking toward shifting my work away from the physically demanding aspects and toward the more subtle approaches. I see that including more of the lymphatic and cranial sacral work, coupled with brainwave conditioning. These modalities pair beautifully with the shamanic work. I will also be bringing more of my photography into my practice to create unique healing images conceived in a healing journey for my shamanic clients. I see them as being a large, fine art image printed on metal that will serve as a meditation focal point for my client during his or her healing process.

Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

WellBEing Resource is a unique publication that reaches out into the community in a way other directories do not. It is more than a directory. It is also a network that succeeds in bringing like minded individuals together who would have never otherwise met.

Thanks so much Diane!

Laurie Loving, MSW, Certified Watsu® Practitioner ~ Loving Aquatic Massage

unnamed (7)Hi Laurie! Thanks for doing this interview. I wanted to share more about what you offer as I really enjoyed my own personal Watsu® session with you!

So that the community is clear, please share what do you offer….

I float, massage, stretch, and swirl people in my beautiful warm-water pool, a completely different dimension of relaxation known as “Watsu®” (water + shiatsu). The pool, surrounded by tropical plants, is enclosed in a large white yurt dome for privacy and colorful floral wall hangings bring a touch of Hawaii to this sacred space.

What led you to offering that?

Warm-water massage (both giving and receiving) relieves my pain and stiffness from arthritis and fibromyalgia and greatly reduces any emotional stress I’m feeling. How many people do you know that feel better after working? I wanted to share this blessing with everyone.

LAM-Nan Shows PoolWhat do you love most about what you do?

The moments of quiet stillness in the pool, the person relaxed in my arms, his or her face released from pain and looking innocent and luminescent.

What inspires you?

The heartfelt gratitude from people following a session.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I’ll be taking a new class this summer called Waterdance where people experience the magic of being an underwater “dolphin”. The client is given nose clips, then gradually and gently is taken entirely under the water. Once freed from the bounds of head support and gravity, the client‟s body can be moved, stretched, and worked into literally unlimited ways. Waterdance incorporates elements of massage, Aikido, dolphin and snake movements, rolls, somersaults, inversions, dance, and much more. The effects of this work include physical release and can induce deep states of relaxation, meditation, bliss, and even visions. I’m so excited!unnamed (8)

Sounds awesome! Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

The directory is so well done and beautiful!  It’s really the finest local resource for putting all the area’s alternative healthcare providers together. Plus, when I “google” myself, my listing in the WellBeing directory comes in at the top!

Awesome ~ Thanks Laurie!

Pamela (Spencer) Conner, Nutritionist

Pamela Spencer_5inHi Pamela! So excited to interview you 🙂

What do you offer here in the local community?

Nutritional Therapy And Naturopathic Medicine. Specializing in digestive disorders, mood disorders, cleansing programs, weight management, and hormone balancing.

What lead you to offering that?

Carl Jung said it best: I am a Wounded Healer. My health started to decline at the age 19 and traditional medicine was unable to help. Alternative Medicine did. After regaining my health I knew I wanted to help others reverse and prevent disease states and imbalance. I went from a terrible quality of life to regaining my health and have more energy than I need in a day and a create quality of life to be the athlete I am today.

What do you love most about what you do?

I help people make big changes in their health and quality of life. Most individuals that come to me are highly motivated to make the changes they need to make but don’t know what they are. For example, to watch someone start out with me with an autoimmune condition and heal out of it brings so much joy to me.

What inspires you?

Watching the human body heal itself, or bring itself back into balance, is amazing to me and inspires me to help as many people have vitality and a great quality of life. Also, older persons that are free from diseases, health imbalances and that are fit and active is very inspiring for me. These persons show me what is possible if we take good care of our bodies. I want to be that person in my older years!

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I’m looking forward to continuing to grow my practice. I’m expanding my Roseville office into a Wellness Center and I’m really excited about it.

Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

I enjoy supporting a local small business and especially one that supports health, wellness, and nutrition.

Thanks so much Pamela!

Janelle Thunhorst of Ollin Balance Bookkeeping

Hi Janelle! Thanks for doing this interview 🙂

What do you offer in the community?

Our focus is automation, paperless office, and all things QuickBooks.

What lead you to offering that?

Working for larger companies and CPA firms, I realized no one was looking out for small business owners when it came to daily accounting tasks. What I enjoy most is helping small business owners do what they do best, and most of the time, it’s not bookkeeping.

What do you love most about what you do?

Usually a small business owner is living out their dream by starting a business. If I can have part in helping them to succeed, it makes me feel good.

What inspires you?

I am inspired when I see my clients setting big goals and then getting to achieve them together. I am also sparked with inspiration when a client is learning new information (and feeling overwhelmed about doing so) and then the next time we revisit the information they understand it. At that point, it’s no longer seen as stressful or overwhelming, and that in itself is a great feat.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I can’t wait until I start receiving the ‘Thank You’ cards from the clients who have been helped out so much in their business.

Why do you like being a part of WellBEing Resource?

I am so grateful to be a part of the WellBEing Resource because of the connection to like minded people and promoting ways to better WellBEing not only in business, but in life.

Would you like to offer something special for WellBEing Resource readers?

I would like to offer WellBEing readers an opportunity to have a free 30min consultation. To do so, please visit my scheduling website, VCita/v/ollinbalance, select the 30-min meeting option and in the note box, type the word WellBEing.

Linda Middlesworth ~ VeganMentor

Hi Linda ~ I’m so happy to be able to interview you and share your unique offerings with the community!

Linda-Middlesworth-300x300-1445549794What is that you do here in the community?

I teach nutrition and cooking classes (Food for Life Nutrition & Cooking Instructor, Physician’s Committee), organize speaker events and vegan social gatherings (Organizer of Sacramento Vegan Society and Sacramento Animal Rights Group), guide clients through a 30-Day Vegan Health Watch online program, offer personal training (Certified Personal Trainer), and teach aerobics classes.

What lead you to sharing these various offerings?

I was once a fat aerobic instructor with cancer and heart disease and started studying nutrition from all the great prevention doctors. After going to a healthy, plant based diet, I lost 35 lbs. But, I did not lose the last 15 lbs. until I took out all the added oils in my diet. I lost 45 total lbs. after following Dr. John McDougall’s Starch Solution. I had only one radiation treatment, but refused to have my thyroid removed. My heart disease disappeared and my cancer no longer exists. Once I found out about how animals (raised for food) are treated and killed, I wanted to help stop this animal holocaust.

What do you love most about what you do?

11221513_562766150555183_8723607142206319001_nHelping people lose weight and/or find optimal health by teaching them to eat a “healthy” whole foods, low fat, oil free, plant based diet. I love educating the world about the plight of the voiceless animals and will fight for them until they are all free.

Who inspires you?

Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Garth Davis, Dr. Joel Kahn, Dr. Ernie Bodhai, Dr. Andrew Klonecke, Dr. Don Forrester, Dr. Rajiv Misquitta, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Alan Goldhamer, Dr. Richard Oppenlander, Dr. Joseph Keon, Dr. Pam Popper, Dr. Janice Stanger, Dr. Michael Klaper, Dr. Doug Lisle, Chef AJ, John Pierre, Julieanna Hever, and Lani Muelrath are my top health experts who inspire me the most.

For animal welfare, Philip Wollen, Gary Yourofsky, Dr. Will Tuttle, Melanie Joy, Colleen Patrick Goudreau, and Robert Grillo are my top animal advocates.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

My goal is to have a Wellness Center where people can come during the day for Cooking, Exercise, and Doctor based bio med monitoring.
